This is the pick they will still be bragging about in July: Josaiah Stewart, the No. 41 name on the board, stolen at Round 7, Pick 22.
Reaching for Morris left real value on the table behind him. The interior defensive lineman spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. They went 5 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.
The back end got a real overhaul.
All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 4 they get a potential shutdown corner at fair value. Need was not the driver here.
Taking Wyatt Milum in No. 38 is close to grand larceny; an offensive lineman that good had no business lasting this long. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
You do not let an offensive lineman like Tyler Booker reach the 69th pick and blink. They did not. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
A top-tier safety at a bargain, Malaki Starks in the Round 3 slot, plain and simple. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
A running back of that caliber at pick 104 is the definition of value, full stop. It fills a real need, too.
Tre Harris at the 143rd overall pick is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
They robbed the room for Jihaad Campbell here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. A minor need, but a need all the same.
This one needs a full-page explanation: Micah Morris in Round 7, Pick 4, miles early. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Somehow Josaiah Stewart was still sitting there in pick 238, and they pounced on premier edge rusher value. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
