The rest of the league will want that one back. Josaiah Stewart tumbling to the Patriots in pick 238 is a gift they did not have to think twice about. Call it a sensible B, earned the boring way.
The cost of the Morris reach is exactly the players who went right after him. The phones were where this weekend was really won. The interior defensive lineman hole is the one line item this class does not answer.
Adding Tee Higgins by trade rounds out the weekend beyond the rookies.
Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 4 they get a sticky cover corner at fair value. Need was not the driver here.
Nice patience on Jack Sawyer, who had no business lasting to pick 38. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Wyatt Milum at the 69th pick is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
A top-tier offensive lineman at a bargain, Tyler Booker in slot 77, plain and simple. The roster fit checks out.
Ashton Jeanty in the Round 4 slot is a gift, value that borders on unfair. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
You do not let an offensive lineman like Ajani Cornelius reach pick No. 143 and blink. They did not. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
They robbed the room for Jihaad Campbell here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. A minor itch, scratched.
They will replay Tre Harris at Round 6, Pick 11 for years; that is how good the value is. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
This one needs a full-page explanation: Micah Morris in slot 217, miles early. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
They barely believed it either: Lander Barton still on the board at the 220th pick. A luxury on a unit that was already in good shape.
Taking Josaiah Stewart in the Round 7 slot is close to grand larceny; an edge rusher that good had no business lasting this long. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
