Nobody had Power Echols this high, and it is not close. The Patriots reached 85 spots to get him at Round 7, Pick 4. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B-.
Skattebo at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster. The phones were where this weekend was really won.
The edge rusher hole is the one line item this class does not answer. It is a win-now wager, and the future is the stake.
A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 14 they get a disruptive interior force, outstanding value to boot. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
In slot 16 they get a long-term starter on the line, though the board says they badly overpaid. A clean fit for the roster.
Jayden Higgins at pick 45 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Jermari Harris at the 104th overall pick. A minor itch, scratched.
Cam Skattebo in Round 5, Pick 6 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Good price on Miles Frazier in pick No. 217, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Power Echols at Round 7, Pick 4 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
