The Packers did not reach, did not trade up, did not blink. They just waited, and Jordan Magee fell into No. 255. It nets out to a B-, which feels about right.
Knox has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. They punted on quarterback, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. Edge rusher was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
Value over need was the throughline, for better and worse.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but quarterback.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 25th pick they get a building block for the line, outstanding value to boot. A real need, handled.
They took Tyler Nubin at par in the Round 2 slot, which is nothing to complain about. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Cooper Beebe at Round 2, Pick 26 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. The roster fit checks out.
Khyree Jackson at slot 88 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Jeremiah Trotter Jr. slid further than he should have, and the 91st overall pick is lovely value for the linebacker. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
The board fumbled Javon Baker all the way to pick 126, and they scooped it up. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
A tidy bit of business in No. 169, where Isaiah Davis graded well above the range. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
They paid sticker price for Javontae Jean-Baptiste in pick No. 202, and that is fine. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
The board had cheaper options than Evan Williams at the 219th overall pick, and it noticed. Pure best-available; the position was not exactly begging.
Value said wait; Trey Knox in pick No. 245 says they were not listening. It fills a real need, too.
Jordan Magee in No. 255 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A want dressed up as a pick, at a spot they had covered.
