You can draft well and still miss the point. The Packers did plenty of tidy work and somehow never got around to edge rusher, which was the need that mattered most. For now it grades a C+, with the swing picks left to settle the rest.
If Proctor pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. The Caldwell pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch.
The dealing tilted against them, just enough to notice.
Hit on Gennings Dunker and the swing picks, and this ages a lot better than it grades today.
Pick-by-Pick
Nothing to complain about; Gennings Dunker went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
A market-rate running back, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Mike Washington Jr.. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Treydan Stukes at the 84th pick is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
They paid up for Kaleb Proctor at the 120th overall pick when waiting would have done the job. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
No edge and no loss on Marlin Klein in pick 160; it is a wash and a sensible one. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
A quiet steal in No. 201: Jeff Caldwell for less than the market said. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Vinny Anthony II at Round 7, Pick 20 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. The roster fit checks out.
Jalon Daniels in pick No. 255 is fair value, right on his grade. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
