Call it larceny. Chau Smith-Wade sat on the board until the 203rd pick, and the Packers did not need to be asked twice.

Spending an early pick on linebacker with quarterback, wide receiver and other spots open is the decision the grade keeps circling back to. Leaving quarterback unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.

Every board in the league had Thomas lower, and that gap is the story. They went 5 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.

Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.
