The Packers did not so much draft Jude Bowry as overpay for him, 46 picks clear of his grade. It sets an uneasy tone for the weekend. It nets out to a B-, which feels about right.
A whole weekend of picks and edge rusher is somehow still a want. If one pick saves this weekend, it is Thomas.
On the needs board they went 4 of 8, with cornerback the one that mattered most.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.
Pick-by-Pick
A slide stopped in the Round 2 slot, with Keith Abney II worth more than the price. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Jude Bowry in the 84th pick is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. It fills a real need, too.
Gracen Halton in No. 120 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Jakobe Thomas in pick No. 153 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
They jumped the gun on Bryce Boettcher, taking him earlier than his grade liked. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Josh Cameron at slot 201 is money in the bank, a wide receiver taken below his worth. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Good price on Thaddeus Dixon in the 236th pick, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Fa'alili Fa'amoe. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
