The Packers torched the value chart for Fa'alili Fa'amoe, taking him 46 spots sooner than anyone had him slotted. A dependable weekend that grades out a B-.
The Lew pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch. For all the activity, edge rusher went untouched, which is hard to explain.
On the needs board they went 6 of 8, with cornerback the one that mattered most. Trading back for volume was the quiet throughline of their weekend.
Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.
Pick-by-Pick
Christen Miller in pick No. 55 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
A clean, defensible pick in pick 84 with a little surplus value in Davison Igbinosun. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Connor Lew in the 120th overall pick is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Value with a capital V on Nicholas Singleton in No. 123, a genuine coup. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Malik Benson in Round 5, Pick 20 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. A need, and now a little less of one.
By-the-book stuff, Domani Jackson at the Round 5 slot squarely in line with his ranking. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
They reached into another round for Fa'alili Fa'amoe, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
They talked themselves into Jalon Daniels at No. 236, and the board did not agree. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Value said wait; Fernando Carmona in pick No. 255 says they were not listening. The roster fit checks out.
