The Packers turned the phones into found money: B.

The real work happened on the phones. The Packers fleeced their trade partners, turning their picks into a noticeably bigger pile than they started with. The bottom line is a respectable B.

They will need Johnson to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. They punted on interior defensive lineman, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. The McMillan value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but interior defensive lineman.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.27 · Pick 27 · Jordan Morgan · OT · rank 27
In the 27th pick they get a blindside protector at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
R2.9 · Pick 41 · Calen Bullock · S · rank 49
A premium they did not need to pay, Calen Bullock a notch or two before his time. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
R2.31 · Pick 63 · Blake Corum · RB · rank 74
They jumped the gun on Blake Corum, taking him earlier than his grade liked. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
R3.25 · Pick 88 · Mike Sainristil · CB · rank 83
Mike Sainristil at slot 88 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
R3.29 · Pick 92 · Jalen McMillan · WR · rank 81
A tidy bit of business in pick No. 92, where Jalen McMillan graded well above the range. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
R3.34 · Pick 97 · Bucky Irving · RB · rank 92
They did well to land Bucky Irving in the Round 3 slot, just ahead of his grade. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
R4.25 · Pick 125 · Cedric Gray · LB · rank 131
By-the-book stuff, Cedric Gray at No. 125 squarely in line with his ranking. A minor itch, scratched.
R4.31 · Pick 131 · Drake Nugent · C · rank 144
Drake Nugent in the 131st overall pick is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. It fills a real need, too.
R4.35 · Pick 135 · Cedric Johnson · DE-EDGE · rank 155
Cedric Johnson at the Round 4 slot is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
R5.1 · Pick 137 · Jordan Travis · QB · rank 132
A reasonable price with a little left over, Jordan Travis in No. 137. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
R5.20 · Pick 156 · Braelon Allen · RB · rank 151
Braelon Allen at pick 156 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
R6.28 · Pick 203 · Erick All · TE · rank 205
They took Erick All at par in pick No. 203, which is nothing to complain about. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
R6.42 · Pick 217 · Steele Chambers · LB · rank 222
A straight-up fair deal on Steele Chambers at the 217th overall pick, value and slot in agreement. Stacking talent where they were already deep.
R7.26 · Pick 246 · Donovan Jennings · OT · rank 244
Donovan Jennings in Round 7, Pick 26 is fair value, right on his grade. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
