A sensible, unshowy class lands the Packers a B.

Boards are made to be trusted, and the Packers shredded theirs for Kenny Logan Jr.. He came off 41 spots early, and the room will hear about it.

That quarterback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Jones.

The weekend tilted hard toward the defense. Trading back for volume was the quiet throughline of their weekend.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but quarterback.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.25 · Pick 25 · Cooper DeJean · CB · rank 26
In pick No. 25 they get an island corner at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
R2.15 · Pick 47 · Darius Robinson · DL-EDGE · rank 39
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Darius Robinson at pick 47 is the proof. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
R2.26 · Pick 58 · Kingsley Suamataia · OT · rank 61
They took Kingsley Suamataia at par in the 58th pick, which is nothing to complain about. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
R3.25 · Pick 88 · Trey Benson · RB · rank 87
No drama and no debate, Trey Benson went about where he belonged in the Round 3 slot. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
R3.28 · Pick 91 · Brenden Rice · WR · rank 96
Brenden Rice in slot 91 is fair value, right on his grade. It fills a real need, too.
R4.7 · Pick 107 · Elijah Jones · CB · rank 115
A reach for Elijah Jones in Round 4, Pick 7; a little patience would have been rewarded. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
R4.26 · Pick 126 · Mason McCormick · OT · rank 146
Mason McCormick at pick No. 126 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
R5.15 · Pick 151 · Christian Jones · OT · rank 132
You do not let an offensive lineman like Christian Jones reach the 151st overall pick and blink. They did not. A need, and now a little less of one.
R5.33 · Pick 169 · Kamal Hadden · CB · rank 168
They paid sticker price for Kamal Hadden in pick 169, and that is fine. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
R6.27 · Pick 202 · Nathaniel Watson · LB · rank 212
They went early on Nathaniel Watson in No. 202, and the value did not follow. A minor itch, scratched.
R6.44 · Pick 219 · Trevin Wallace · LB · rank 233
Trevin Wallace at the Round 6 slot is a conviction pick that outran the value. Pure best-available; the position was not exactly begging.
R7.25 · Pick 245 · Evan Anderson · DL · rank 282
They reached into another round for Evan Anderson, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. The roster fit checks out.
R7.35 · Pick 255 · Kenny Logan Jr. · S · rank 296
A big swing on Kenny Logan Jr. at slot 255, well ahead of any board in the building. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
