Green Bay Packers

Best value of the weekend goes to the Packers for Alexander: B-.

The best pick of the weekend was also the simplest. The Packers watched Zy Alexander slide 63 picks past his grade and did not hesitate. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B-.

Gore Jr. has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. They will regret leaving edge rusher for another day if the season turns on it.

In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.9 · Pick 9 · Rome Odunze · WR · rank 12
By-the-book stuff, Rome Odunze at No. 9 squarely in line with his ranking. It fills a real need, too.
R2.9 · Pick 41 · Xavier Worthy · WR · rank 31
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Xavier Worthy at pick No. 41. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
R2.11 · Pick 43 · Troy Fautanu · OT · rank 42
A straight-up fair deal on Troy Fautanu at pick 43, value and slot in agreement. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
R3.9 · Pick 73 · T.J. Tampa · CB · rank 43
T.J. Tampa at the 73rd overall pick is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
R3.18 · Pick 82 · Tyler Guyton · OT · rank 65
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Tyler Guyton at Round 3, Pick 18 is the proof. The roster fit checks out.
R4.9 · Pick 109 · Cam Hart · CB · rank 105
Cam Hart at the Round 4 slot is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
R4.35 · Pick 135 · James Williams · S · rank 131
A reasonable price with a little left over, James Williams in the 135th pick. A minor need, but a need all the same.
R6.12 · Pick 187 · Ray Davis · RB · rank 137
Circle this one: Ray Davis at slot 187 is a fall that decides a draft. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
R6.42 · Pick 217 · Jack Nelson · OT · rank 177
They robbed the room for Jack Nelson here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
R6.44 · Pick 219 · Frank Gore Jr. · RB · rank 260
They talked themselves into Frank Gore Jr. at Round 6, Pick 44, and the board did not agree. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
R7.10 · Pick 230 · Zy Alexander · CB · rank 167
Somehow Zy Alexander was still sitting there in the 230th pick, and they pounced on premier cornerback value. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
