You could see the war room lean forward. De'Corian Clark at No. 217 is the sort of fall that does not happen, except it just did. Call it a sensible B-, earned the boring way.
If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through edge rusher. Spending an early pick on safety with edge rusher and quarterback open is the decision the grade keeps circling back to.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 19 they get a blindside protector. A clean fit for the roster.
They paid sticker price for T.J. Tampa in the Round 2 slot, and that is fine. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
No edge and no loss on Calen Bullock in slot 51; it is a wash and a sensible one. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
A clean, defensible pick in pick 83 with a little surplus value in Payton Wilson. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Zak Zinter in Round 3, Pick 29 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Audric Estime is a better player than the 119th overall pick suggests; smart patience, rewarded. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
The eyebrow-raiser of the weekend. They went safety with James Williams while clear needs at edge rusher and quarterback sat open.
T.J. Sanders at the 197th pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. The roster fit checks out.
De'Corian Clark at pick No. 217 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
The board had cheaper options than Brevyn Spann-Ford at Round 6, Pick 44, and it noticed. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
By-the-book stuff, Eric Gentry at No. 240 squarely in line with his ranking. A want more than a need, though you can never have too many.
