Every swap seemed to tilt away from the Giants, and the value they bled adds up to real damage.
They have staked the next five years on Jayden Daniels, which is the only story that really matters here. That interior defensive lineman hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.
Every board in the league had Worthy lower, and that gap is the story. They are betting the present roster is worth a lighter draft next spring.
The Johnson pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch.
In short, a weekend the front office will want to forget in a hurry.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 6th pick they get the arm they will build around. A clean fit for the roster.
In Round 1, Pick 8 they get a No. 1 receiver at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Xavier Worthy at the 47th overall pick is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Nothing to complain about; Kiran Amegadjie went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
A clean, defensible pick in pick No. 140 with a little surplus value in Christian Jones. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Dillon Johnson at slot 185 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
