They finally answered the question that shadows every other one. Jayden Daniels is the Commanders' quarterback, full stop. The bottom line is a respectable B.
That is a cornerback worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through wide receiver. The roster is better shaped than it was, with cornerback chief among the fixes.
Almost all the early capital went to that side of the ball.
In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get their guy under center for the next decade at fair value. A real need, handled.
Taliese Fuaga in pick 36 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Amarius Mims at the 40th overall pick. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Somehow Quinyon Mitchell was still sitting there in slot 67, and they pounced on premier cornerback value. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Chris Braswell in pick No. 78 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Nice patience on Cole Bishop, who had no business lasting to No. 100. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
A top-tier linebacker at a bargain, Cedric Gray in the 139th pick, plain and simple. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Taking Jarrian Jones in Round 5, Pick 16 is close to grand larceny; a cornerback that good had no business lasting this long. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
The board had Tyrice Knight higher than Round 7, Pick 2, and the linebacker fell to them anyway. It is more luxury than necessity; they were already set here.
