When a board-topper like Calen Bullock slides to the 152nd overall pick, you do not overthink it, and the Commanders did not. The bottom line is a respectable B.
Everything downstream of Jayden Daniels depends on Jayden Daniels, and the building knows it. That wide receiver hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.
A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 2 they get a long-term answer under center. A clean fit for the roster.
They will replay Jared Verse at pick No. 36 for years; that is how good the value is. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Tyler Guyton at the Round 2 slot is money in the bank, a offensive lineman taken below his worth. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
A tidy little value on Kamari Lassiter in slot 67, a step better than break-even. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Value with a capital V on Jaden Hicks in the 78th pick, a genuine coup. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Dominick Puni slipping to the 100th overall pick is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Circle this one: Gabriel Murphy at pick 139 is a fall that decides a draft. A need, and now a little less of one.
You do not let a safety like Calen Bullock reach Round 5, Pick 16 and blink. They did not. Stacking talent where they were already deep.
Dallin Holker at No. 222 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
