After circling the position for what felt like forever, the Giants committed. Drake Maye is the quarterback now, and the roster gets built to his timeline. It nets out to a B-, which feels about right.
The Walker reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade. A whole weekend of picks and interior defensive lineman is somehow still a want.
Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 5 they get a long-term answer under center. A real need, handled.
A straight-up fair deal on Keon Coleman at slot 37, value and slot in agreement. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Kingsley Suamataia in No. 54 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
They paid a round early for Braelon Allen in the Round 3 slot, more than the board wanted. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Value with a capital V on Andrew Mukuba in the 105th pick, a genuine coup. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Devontez Walker at Round 4, Pick 18 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
A tidy little value on Kamal Hadden in pick No. 183, a step better than break-even. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
