They will call it conviction in the building and a reach everywhere else: Frank Crum, 102 picks early at pick No. 218.
They won the margins on every swap, and it adds up fast. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped quarterback, which is a strange place to end up.
If one pick saves this weekend, it is Puni. Edge rusher is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
Good work on the whole, with quarterback the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 11 they get juice off the edge. Exactly the need they had to hit.
They did well to land Kamari Lassiter in Round 2, Pick 11, just ahead of his grade. A minor itch, scratched.
Dominick Puni at No. 109 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Mohamed Kamara at the 130th pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
The board had Jaylin Simpson higher than the 146th overall pick, and the cornerback fell to them anyway. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
A quiet steal in slot 166: Jarrian Jones for less than the market said. Stacking talent where they were already deep.
They paid sticker price for Steele Chambers in the Round 6 slot, and that is fine. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Kendall Milton in No. 199 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Nathan Thomas at Round 6, Pick 40 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the offensive lineman. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Frank Crum well ahead of where he belonged. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
