Somehow the biggest item on the list survived the weekend. The Packers never addressed quarterback, and it is the kind of gap that lingers.
The Abrams-Draine value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere. On the needs board they went 4 of 8, with edge rusher the one that mattered most.
Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.
In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 25th overall pick they get a plug-and-play piece up front. A clean fit for the roster.
A market-rate edge rusher, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Jonah Elliss. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Patrick Paul in pick No. 57 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Nothing to complain about; Mike Sainristil went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Good price on Marist Liufau in Round 3, Pick 28, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
