The Commanders clearly saw something nobody else did in Roger Rosengarten, taking him 35 picks ahead of his grade. The board is not convinced. Very little went wrong, and the A- is earned.
They won the margins on every swap, and it adds up fast. The Burton steal is the beam this whole class leans on. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through running back.
Bottom line, with Laiatu Latu leading the way, this is a class that should pay off fast and rarely be regretted.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 11 they get a premier pass rusher. A real need, handled.
In the 23rd pick they get a quarterback's worst nightmare at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
Good price on Bo Nix in No. 36, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Graham Barton at Round 2, Pick 8 is the proof. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Jeremiah Trotter Jr. in the Round 3 slot is exactly on the number, no argument either way. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
They barely believed it either: Jermaine Burton still on the board at pick No. 78. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
A big swing on Roger Rosengarten at pick No. 100, well ahead of any board in the building. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
The board fumbled Josh Newton all the way to the 139th pick, and they scooped it up. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Mason McCormick at the Round 5 slot nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Tanner McLachlan slipping to the 222nd overall pick is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
