Everything else got attention, and linebacker got none. That is a strange way for the Broncos to leave a draft. Call it a sensible B-, earned the boring way.
The Carmona pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over. Getting Lance where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class.
The roster is better shaped than it was, with interior defensive lineman chief among the fixes.
A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
Pick-by-Pick
D'Angelo Ponds in pick No. 62 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Bryce Lance in slot 108 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
They paid up for Gracen Halton at the 111th overall pick when waiting would have done the job. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
A reach on Dae'Quan Wright in pick 170; the board had better options right there. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
By-the-book stuff, Trey Zuhn III at No. 246 squarely in line with his ranking. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
They paid a round early for Josh Moten in Round 7, Pick 40, more than the board wanted. They added to a strength when a need was still open elsewhere.
Fernando Carmona in the Round 7 slot is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
