There is a lot to like until you notice edge rusher is still a hole. The Packers never got to the one that mattered most. Call it a sensible B-, earned the boring way.
Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Melton. The Cooper reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade.
On the needs board they went 4 of 8, with cornerback the one that mattered most.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the edge rusher spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 25th pick they get a potential shutdown corner. The biggest hole, addressed.
They went early on Edgerrin Cooper in the Round 2 slot, and the value did not follow. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
They took Braden Fiske at par in Round 2, Pick 26, which is nothing to complain about. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Max Melton is a better player than the 88th overall pick suggests; smart patience, rewarded. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
A tidy bit of business in pick No. 91, where Calen Bullock graded well above the range. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
