The Texans put a flag in the ground for Collin Oliver, 77 picks before anyone else would have, and the value took the hit. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B.
A whole weekend of picks and running back is somehow still a want. Muhammad at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster. Wide receiver is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the running back spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 25th overall pick they get a No. 1 receiver, and a steal at that. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Alfred Collins at pick 58 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Donovan Jackson in No. 89 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
A straight-up fair deal on Emery Jones Jr. at the 127th pick, value and slot in agreement. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
A slide stopped in slot 167, with Jabbar Muhammad worth more than the price. It adds depth where they could use a little.
