Somehow the biggest item on the list survived the weekend. The Giants never addressed edge rusher, and it is the kind of gap that lingers.
The Gray steal is the beam this whole class leans on. They left with interior defensive lineman solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off. They came away with juice, if not much beef up front.
All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 6th overall pick they get a No. 1 receiver. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Quinyon Mitchell at pick 39 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the cornerback. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Kingsley Suamataia in the 47th pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
They took Blake Corum at par in No. 70, which is nothing to complain about. A need, and now a little less of one.
No edge and no loss on Jaden Hicks in pick No. 107; it is a wash and a sensible one. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Cedric Gray slid further than he should have, and the Round 5 slot is lovely value for the linebacker. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
The board had Jordan Jefferson higher than Round 6, Pick 10, and the interior defensive lineman fell to them anyway. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
