Call it larceny. Brenden Rice sat on the board until slot 107, and the Giants did not need to be asked twice. A near-flawless weekend of work, and a A to cap it.
They robbed the room blind at the table, and it lifts the grade on its own. The interior defensive lineman hole is the one line item this class does not answer.
They will need Braswell to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it.
In short, they turned a good board into a better roster, and it shows.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 16 they get a weapon on the perimeter. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Value said wait; Chris Braswell in the 37th overall pick says they were not listening. A need, and now a little less of one.
A quiet steal in pick 47: Quinyon Mitchell for less than the market said. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
They paid sticker price for Junior Colson in the 69th pick, and that is fine. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Zak Zinter at Round 3, Pick 19 is a conviction pick that outran the value. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
A wide receiver of that caliber at No. 107 is the definition of value, full stop. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
They took Ben Sinnott at par in the Round 5 slot, which is nothing to complain about. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Kitan Oladapo in slot 156 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
