The Giants ran the phones like sharks, prying loose value on deal after deal until the ledger was lopsided. Very little went wrong, and the A is earned.
However the rest shakes out, Puni at that price is a win they earned. The Zinter reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade. For all the activity, interior defensive lineman went untouched, which is hard to explain.
In short, they turned a good board into a better roster, and it shows.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 8 they get a matchup problem out wide at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
In the 22nd overall pick they get a lockdown presence outside. A clean fit for the roster.
They let Roman Wilson come to them and pounced at the 58th pick. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Blake Corum at pick No. 70 is a conviction pick that outran the value. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
They left a pile of value on the table to take Zak Zinter this early at the Round 3 slot. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Khyree Jackson at slot 107. The roster fit checks out.
A top-tier offensive lineman at a bargain, Dominick Puni in pick 111, plain and simple. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
No edge and no loss on Spencer Rattler in No. 115; it is a wash and a sensible one. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Tommy Eichenberg at pick No. 141 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
