The one hole that towered over the rest is filled. The Giants spent their marquee pick on Jayden Daniels, and for the first time in a while there is a real answer at quarterback.
Getting Washington where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class. The cost of the Jones reach is exactly the players who went right after him.
The interior defensive lineman hole is the one line item this class does not answer.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the interior defensive lineman spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 10 they get a passer to set the clock by at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
In Round 1, Pick 16 they get a true top target. The biggest hole, addressed.
In slot 21 they get a plug-and-play piece up front, and a steal at that. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
They did well to land Blake Corum in No. 78, just ahead of his grade. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Malik Washington in the Round 5 slot should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Taking Kitan Oladapo in pick 187 is close to grand larceny; a safety that good had no business lasting this long. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Matthew Jones well ahead of where he belonged. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
