Start where it matters. The Giants took Drake Maye to run the offense for the next decade, and every other decision this weekend bends around that one. Call it a sensible B, earned the boring way.
For all the activity, interior defensive lineman went untouched, which is hard to explain. The Braswell pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch.
The Gore Jr. pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over. The offense got the lion's share of the attention.
Good work on the whole, with interior defensive lineman the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 5th pick they get a franchise quarterback. A clean fit for the roster.
A slide stopped in pick No. 37, with Emeka Egbuka worth more than the price. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Troy Fautanu. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Circle this one: Chris Braswell at No. 69 is a fall that decides a draft. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
They took Tykee Smith at par in slot 105, which is nothing to complain about. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Christian Jones at pick 142 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
They went early on Frank Gore Jr. in the 183rd overall pick, and the value did not follow. It fills a real need, too.
