They finally answered the question that shadows every other one. Jayden Daniels is the Giants' quarterback, full stop. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B.
McMillan falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through interior defensive lineman.
If Baker pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about.
In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 6th pick they get the arm they will build around. A real need, handled.
They liked Jackson Powers-Johnson enough to skip the value, taking him in slot 40. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Zach Frazier at pick 70 is the proof. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
The board had Cooper Beebe higher than the Round 3 slot, and the offensive lineman fell to them anyway. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
They will replay Jalen McMillan at Round 4, Pick 1 for years; that is how good the value is. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
A straight-up fair deal on Jaden Hicks at pick No. 108, value and slot in agreement. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Somehow Sione Vaki was still sitting there in the 160th overall pick, and they pounced on premier safety value. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
They paid a round early for Javon Baker in No. 173, more than the board wanted. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Michael Barrett in No. 190 is fair value, right on his grade. A minor need, but a need all the same.
A top-tier running back at a bargain, Jawhar Jordan in the 242nd pick, plain and simple. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
