Give the war room a raise for the dealing alone. The Giants came out ahead on every exchange that mattered, and it was not close.
They banked enough surplus on Odunze to cover a lot of smaller sins. The interior defensive lineman hole is the one line item this class does not answer. The Josey Jewell pickup adds a known quantity to a class of unknowns.
They left with safety solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
Add it up and few war rooms did better this weekend, Laiatu Latu and all.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 9 they get a premier pass rusher. A real need, handled.
Steal is underselling it; Rome Odunze at the 38th overall pick is a heist with the alarm still ringing. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
They did well to land J.J. McCarthy in No. 47, just ahead of his grade. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Kingsley Suamataia at the 70th pick. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
By-the-book stuff, D.J. James at the Round 3 slot squarely in line with his ranking. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Marshawn Kneeland in pick 106 is fair value, right on his grade. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
A market-rate running back, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Audric Estime. A need, and now a little less of one.
Antwaun Powell-Ryland at the 143rd pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. The roster fit checks out.
They robbed the room for Malachi Moore here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
