The trade table was where it all came apart. The Giants shipped out far more than they hauled back, and no amount of spin dresses up the bill. Too much went sideways, and the D- is the honest tally.
They punted on interior defensive lineman, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. Coleman falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch. The veteran additions, Kolton Miller chief among them, give the class a floor the rookies alone would not.
Job largely done: wide receiver settled and 6 of 9 of the wish list covered.
A rough weekend that leaves the roster with more questions than answers.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 9 they get a difference-maker at receiver. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Ja'Tavion Sanders at pick 39 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the tight end. A need, and now a little less of one.
Value with a capital V on Brian Thomas Jr. in the 40th overall pick, a genuine coup. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
A tidy little value on Chris Braswell in No. 47, a step better than break-even. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
The board fumbled Keon Coleman all the way to slot 70, and they scooped it up. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Mike Sainristil in the 72nd pick. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Trey Benson in the Round 4 slot is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
A tidy bit of business in Round 4, Pick 8, where Christian Mahogany graded well above the range. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
