Boards are made to be trusted, and the Giants shredded theirs for Cody Schrader. He came off 48 spots early, and the room will hear about it. Call it a sensible B, earned the boring way.
Getting Kinchens where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class. Leaving edge rusher unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.
Good work on the whole, with edge rusher the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get a go-to option on the outside. Exactly the need they had to hit.
They took J.J. McCarthy at par in pick 39, which is nothing to complain about. A need, and now a little less of one.
Kamren Kinchens in the 47th pick should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
A straight-up fair deal on Kalen King at the 51st overall pick, value and slot in agreement. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
They read the board right and T'Vondre Sweat was the payoff at Round 3, Pick 6. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Tommy Eichenberg at slot 109 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A minor itch, scratched.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Cooper Beebe in the 119th pick. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
A conviction pick on Ben Sinnott at Round 5, Pick 7 that the board grades a round light. The roster fit checks out.
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Zion Nelson. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
A real head-scratcher, Cody Schrader in No. 189 is miles ahead of his ranking. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
