The rest of the league will want that one back. A.J. Haulcy tumbling to the Giants in the Round 3 slot is a gift they did not have to think twice about. Little to argue with here, and the A says so.
They won the margins on every swap, and it adds up fast. The edge rusher spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.
Bottom line, they left the weekend a clearly better team, and they earned every bit of it.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 31 they get a three-down second-level presence at a price that makes it sweeter. More want than need.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Chris Johnson in slot 37. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
They robbed the room for A.J. Haulcy here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Mike Washington Jr. at pick 95 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
You do not let a tight end like Max Klare reach the 105th pick and blink. They did not. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
A tidy little value on Chris McClellan in the Round 5 slot, a step better than break-even. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
They barely believed it either: Reggie Virgil still on the board at the 186th overall pick. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Matt Gulbin is a better player than Round 6, Pick 11 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Nothing to complain about; Anez Cooper went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
