The best pick of the weekend was also the simplest. The Giants watched Darius Robinson slide 31 picks past his grade and did not hesitate. Very little went wrong, and the A is earned.
They robbed the room blind at the table, and it lifts the grade on its own. A whole weekend of picks and interior defensive lineman is somehow still a want.
Add it up and few war rooms did better this weekend, JC Latham and all.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 17th overall pick they get a long-term starter on the line at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
They paid sticker price for Adonai Mitchell in slot 36, and that is fine. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
A clean, defensible pick in pick 39 with a little surplus value in Ennis Rakestraw Jr.. It fills a real need, too.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, J.J. McCarthy at Round 2, Pick 15. A need, and now a little less of one.
Darius Robinson at the Round 3 slot is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
A reasonable price with a little left over, MarShawn Lloyd in the 108th pick. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Ainias Smith in pick No. 140 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Layden Robinson at No. 185 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
