The trade table was a mismatch, and the Giants were on the right end of it, hauling in a fortune in surplus value. It nets out to a B+, which feels about right.
They covered a lot of ground and still skipped edge rusher, which is a strange place to end up. The Chuck Clark deal gives the class an established piece to lean on.
If Wilson pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about.
All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get a load in the middle at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
A tidy little value on Kamari Lassiter in slot 47, a step better than break-even. The roster fit checks out.
No edge and no loss on Sedrick Van Pran in No. 70; it is a wash and a sensible one. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Calen Bullock at Round 3, Pick 16 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
A straight-up fair deal on Braelon Allen at the 107th pick, value and slot in agreement. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
They paid sticker price for Spencer Rattler in pick 111, and that is fine. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Johnny Wilson in the 115th overall pick is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
A slide stopped in pick No. 141, with Christian Jones worth more than the price. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
