If confidence were a draft strategy, the Giants would have aced it. Jason Henderson at the Round 6 slot is 59 spots clear of where he belonged. More right than wrong, and a B- to match.
They punted on edge rusher, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. Jackson falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch.
Interior defensive lineman is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 5 they get a building block for the line at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Cooper Beebe at pick No. 37 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
A market-rate wide receiver, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Jermaine Burton. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Rod Moore in the 69th pick is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
No drama and no debate, Tyleik Williams went about where he belonged in the 105th overall pick. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Donovan Jackson slid further than he should have, and No. 142 is lovely value for the offensive lineman. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Jason Henderson well ahead of where he belonged. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
