The search is over. The Giants handed the keys to J.J. McCarthy, and the whole operation now runs on his development.
Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Polk. For all the activity, interior defensive lineman went untouched, which is hard to explain.
McCarthy has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. Job largely done: safety settled and 5 of 9 of the wish list covered.
Good work on the whole, with interior defensive lineman the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 6 they get the arm they will build around, reach and all. A real need, handled.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Tyler Nubin in pick No. 47. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Christian Haynes at the Round 3 slot is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Ja'Lynn Polk in slot 107 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Chau Smith-Wade at the 141st overall pick is the proof. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Delmar Glaze in pick 183 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
