Start where it matters. The Giants took Drake Maye to run the offense for the next decade, and every other decision this weekend bends around that one. More right than wrong, and a B- to match.
Leaving interior defensive lineman unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. Landing Hart that late papers over a lot of smaller sins. They left with wide receiver solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.
Pick-by-Pick
They took Drake Maye at par in Round 1, Pick 5, which is nothing to complain about. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Nice patience on Terrion Arnold, who had no business lasting to the 37th overall pick. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Jermaine Burton in pick 54 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
They paid sticker price for Chris Braswell in No. 69, and that is fine. It fills a real need, too.
Tate Ratledge at pick No. 105 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
They did well to land Tahj Brooks in slot 142, just ahead of his grade. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Cam Hart is a better player than the 183rd pick suggests; smart patience, rewarded. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
