The trade table was a mismatch, and the Giants were on the right end of it, hauling in a fortune in surplus value. Just about everything broke right, and the A- follows.
Leaving interior defensive lineman unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. They will need Rosengarten to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it.
In the end it comes back to Keon Coleman, and a haul good enough to build on right away.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 32 they get a difference-maker at receiver. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Chris Braswell in the Round 2 slot is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
They paid up for Adisa Isaac at the 58th pick when waiting would have done the job. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Rod Moore in the 70th overall pick is fair value, right on his grade. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
They paid a round early for Matt Goncalves in pick 89, more than the board wanted. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Dominick Puni in slot 107. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
By-the-book stuff, Javion Cohen at No. 143 squarely in line with his ranking. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
They went early on Roger Rosengarten in Round 6, Pick 10, and the value did not follow. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
