The one hole that towered over the rest is filled. The Giants spent their marquee pick on Drake Maye, and for the first time in a while there is a real answer at quarterback.
The Simpson value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere. The interior defensive lineman spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.
If Randolph Jr. pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. Almost all the early capital went to that side of the ball.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the interior defensive lineman spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 6 they get their guy under center for the next decade at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
Tyler Guyton at the 39th overall pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
A clean, defensible pick in Round 2, Pick 15 with a little surplus value in Xavier Worthy. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
A straight-up fair deal on Christian Haynes at slot 70, value and slot in agreement. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Marshawn Kneeland at pick 108 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the edge rusher. It fills a real need, too.
Keith Randolph Jr. in the Round 5 slot is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
A cornerback of that caliber at the 185th pick is the definition of value, full stop. The roster fit checks out.
