Every so often the board makes a mistake, and the Giants were there to profit. Jacob Cowing, the No. 192 name on the board, should have been long gone before Round 7, Pick 36. Good, not great, and the B- says as much.
The whole projection now runs through Drake Maye; hit there and everything else looks smarter. Overpaying at the table undid a lot of the good work elsewhere. The interior defensive lineman spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.
Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 5 they get a passer to set the clock by. A clean fit for the roster.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Jordan Morgan at the Round 2 slot is the proof. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
A market-rate wide receiver, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Adonai Mitchell. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
They paid sticker price for Tate Ratledge in No. 105, and that is fine. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Cole Bishop at the Round 5 slot nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Will Shipley at the 166th pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Nothing to complain about; Cam Hart went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
You do not let a wide receiver like Jacob Cowing reach pick 256 and blink. They did not. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
