The Giants put a flag in the ground for Drew Allar, 41 picks before anyone else would have, and the value took the hit.
The Orange steal is the beam this whole class leans on. For all the activity, safety went untouched, which is hard to explain.
They went 6 of 9 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but safety.
Pick-by-Pick
They went early on Kadyn Proctor in the Round 1 slot, and the value did not follow. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Zachariah Branch at Round 2, Pick 15 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
They robbed the room for Dontay Corleone here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Taking Domonique Orange in the 105th overall pick is close to grand larceny; an interior defensive lineman that good had no business lasting this long. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
The board had Malik Muhammad higher than slot 112, and the cornerback fell to them anyway. It fills a real need, too.
Harold Perkins Jr. at No. 113 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. A minor need, but a need all the same.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Nicholas Singleton in the 114th pick. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
A wild overpay on Drew Allar in Round 4, Pick 15, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
A slide stopped in the 186th overall pick, with Domani Jackson worth more than the price. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Nothing to complain about; Ephesians Prysock went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. A need, and now a little less of one.
