They finally answered the question that shadows every other one. Drake Maye is the Giants' quarterback, full stop.
Walker at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through safety.
They will answer for taking defensive back early while safety, cornerback and other spots went begging. They left with interior defensive lineman solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
Good work on the whole, with safety the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 5th pick they get a long-term answer under center. A clean fit for the roster.
No drama and no debate, Keon Coleman went about where he belonged in the Round 2 slot. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
The eyebrow-raiser of the weekend. They went defensive back with Caelen Carson while clear needs at safety, cornerback and other spots sat open.
They took Ruke Orhorhoro at par in pick 69, which is nothing to complain about. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Payton Wilson in Round 3, Pick 34 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A minor itch, scratched.
Graham Barton in No. 105 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Darius Robinson at pick No. 142 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. The roster fit checks out.
Devontez Walker in the 183rd overall pick is a gift, value that borders on unfair. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
