The Giants went off the board in a big way for Jaden Shirden, 39 picks early. Conviction is one thing; this is another.
They banked enough surplus on Watson to cover a lot of smaller sins. For all the activity, interior defensive lineman went untouched, which is hard to explain.
Safety is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get a No. 1 receiver. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
A tidy little value on Tyler Nubin in Round 2, Pick 7, a step better than break-even. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Chop Robinson in No. 42 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Value said wait; Cooper Beebe in the 57th pick says they were not listening. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Ja'Tavion Sanders in pick No. 70. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
A reach on Luke McCaffrey in slot 120; the board had better options right there. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Nathaniel Watson at slot 255 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
A wild overpay on Jaden Shirden in pick 256, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. A need, and now a little less of one.
