The search is over. The Giants handed the keys to Jayden Daniels, and the whole operation now runs on his development. Call it a sensible B+, earned the boring way.
Every board in the league had Franklin lower, and that gap is the story. Simpson falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch.
They covered a lot of ground and still skipped interior defensive lineman, which is a strange place to end up.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the interior defensive lineman spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 6 they get a franchise quarterback. A real need, handled.
Kingsley Suamataia in the 59th overall pick lands just on the right side of the ledger. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Marist Liufau at pick 70 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
A premium they did not need to pay, Darius Robinson a notch or two before his time. It fills a real need, too.
Cole Bishop at the 128th pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Somehow Ainias Smith was still sitting there in the Round 5 slot, and they pounced on premier wide receiver value. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
You do not let a cornerback like Jaylin Simpson reach Round 6, Pick 10 and blink. They did not. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
This one needs a full-page explanation: Zakhari Franklin in No. 212, miles early. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Circle this one: Christian Jones at No. 233 is a fall that decides a draft. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
