The dealing alone would carry a lesser class. The safety spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. The Giants paired the rookies with proven help, Derrick Henry leading the way.
Spend now, pay later; the math only works if this class delivers.
Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 6th overall pick they get a No. 1 receiver. The biggest hole, addressed.
A wide receiver of that caliber at pick No. 47 is the definition of value, full stop. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Drake Maye at the Round 2 slot is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
A straight-up fair deal on Patrick Paul at the 70th pick, value and slot in agreement. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Brandon Dorlus in slot 116 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Circle this one: Braelon Allen at pick 128 is a fall that decides a draft. It fills a real need, too.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Tyler Davis in Round 4, Pick 34. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Somehow James Williams was still sitting there in No. 144, and they pounced on premier linebacker value. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Isaiah Adams at No. 151 is the proof. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
A tidy bit of business in the 153rd pick, where Kalen King graded well above the range. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
