Somebody took the Giants to the cleaners. The deals they made bled real value, and the whole class wears it. A D- that will need time and luck to look better.
Whatever Jayden Daniels becomes, the front office has tied its fortunes to the answer. For all the activity, interior defensive lineman went untouched, which is hard to explain.
Reaching for Suamataia left real value on the table behind him. That Trice pick is the receipt they will wave around later.
Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even, and interior defensive lineman is still a hole.
Pick-by-Pick
Jayden Daniels in the 6th pick is fair value, right on his grade. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Value with a capital V on Bralen Trice in the Round 2 slot, a genuine coup. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
A premium they did not need to pay, Kingsley Suamataia a notch or two before his time. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
By-the-book stuff, Jackson Powers-Johnson at pick No. 47 squarely in line with his ranking. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Blake Corum at No. 70 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
A straight-up fair deal on Junior Colson at pick 74, value and slot in agreement. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
No edge and no loss on Khyree Jackson in the 107th overall pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
They took Drake Nugent at par in Round 5, Pick 7, which is nothing to complain about. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
No drama and no debate, Isaiah Williams went about where he belonged in No. 185. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
