You can draft well and still miss the point. The Giants did plenty of tidy work and somehow never got around to interior defensive lineman, which was the need that mattered most. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B+.
Reaching for Travis left real value on the table behind him. Fautanu at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster. The Robert Spillane deal gives the class an established piece to lean on.
Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 13 they get a true top target at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Troy Fautanu at Round 2, Pick 7 is money in the bank, a offensive lineman taken below his worth. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Kamren Kinchens in the Round 2 slot is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
A tidy little value on Mike Sainristil in the 70th overall pick, a step better than break-even. It fills a real need, too.
Value with a capital V on Audric Estime in slot 108, a genuine coup. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
The board had cheaper options than Jordan Travis at pick 140, and it noticed. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Curtis Jacobs at the 185th pick is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. It adds depth where they could use a little.
