After circling the position for what felt like forever, the Giants committed. Jayden Daniels is the quarterback now, and the roster gets built to his timeline.
The Taylor III reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade. They will answer for taking defensive back early while safety, cornerback and other spots went begging.
Leaving safety unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.
A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get a franchise quarterback. A real need, handled.
They talked themselves into Leonard Taylor III at the 37th overall pick, and the board did not agree. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
The eyebrow-raiser of the weekend. They went defensive back with Cooper DeJean while clear needs at safety, cornerback and other spots sat open.
They paid a round early for Ja'Lynn Polk in the 54th pick, more than the board wanted. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Chris Braswell in pick No. 61 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Kiran Amegadjie in Round 4, Pick 16. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Bryce Foster at slot 186 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Theo Johnson at No. 229 is a conviction pick that outran the value. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
