The search is over. The Giants handed the keys to Drake Maye, and the whole operation now runs on his development.
The Moore pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch. They will answer for taking defensive back early while interior defensive lineman, safety and other spots went begging.
The interior defensive lineman hole is the one line item this class does not answer. Kamara has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced.
Good work on the whole, with interior defensive lineman the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 5 they get a long-term answer under center. A clean fit for the roster.
Patrick Paul in the Round 2 slot is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Value with a capital V on Jeremiah Trotter Jr. in slot 54, a genuine coup. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Hard to square with the roster. With positions of obvious need still on the board, T.J. Tampa adds a defensive back and leaves interior defensive lineman, safety and other spots untouched.
Mohamed Kamara at pick No. 105 is a conviction pick that outran the value. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
They took Luke Lachey at par in the 142nd pick, which is nothing to complain about. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
The board fumbled Malachi Moore all the way to pick 183, and they scooped it up. It does not line up with the team's obvious holes.
