The Jets torched the value chart for Deven Eastern, taking him 51 spots sooner than anyone had him slotted.
Ramsey at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster. Every deal seemed to tilt their way, which is not luck. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped running back, which is a strange place to end up.
In the end it comes back to Arvell Reese, and a haul good enough to build on right away.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 16 they get the heartbeat of the defense, and a steal at that. More want than need.
Olaivavega Ioane is a better player than Round 2, Pick 1 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
They liked Eli Stowers enough to skip the value, taking him in pick No. 44. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
A real head-scratcher, Caden Curry in the 92nd pick is miles ahead of his ranking. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Taking Kamari Ramsey in the Round 4 slot is close to grand larceny; a safety that good had no business lasting this long. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Bud Clark in pick 112 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
A premium they did not need to pay, Zxavian Harris a notch or two before his time. A need, and now a little less of one.
Value said wait; Taylen Green in the 170th pick says they were not listening. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Domani Jackson at the Round 5 slot is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the cornerback. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Deven Eastern. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Jack Kelly at slot 242 is a conviction pick that outran the value. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
Somehow Zavion Thomas was still sitting there in the 257th overall pick, and they pounced on premier wide receiver value. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
